I’ve been involved in SEA since 1972. At the time we were having a lot of problems in different neighborhoods and some brave women went to Our Lady of Soledad Church on Cesar Chavez asking for help. They were desperate after seeing so many children being killed. Some of them were losing their children to drugs, some of them had been in jail. We all wanted to see if we could save some of our children.

We are grateful that what we started is still going strong because the need is still there. There are still many mothers losing their children to gangs, death, institutions, and drugs. We believe that peace is possible. We ask parents and staff to continue to work for that peace and that we ourselves live a life of peace as we work with these wonderful families.
