The GRYD Prevention model is comprised of seven phases. Each phase utilizes a vertical strategy which consist of multigenerational coaching through the use of strength-based genograms and the horizontal strategy, which is the use of problem solving techniques.

The GRYD prevention model is designed to reduce risk factors and their associated behaviors by addressing the youth as an individual, at the family level, and at the peer level.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
SEA’s prevention team works with local schools, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the Probation Department, community centers, recreation parks, and local after-school programs to identify youth most at-risk of delinquency and academic failure.The teams provide individualized services tailored to each youth’s risk factors, as well as intensive case management, family counseling, and high-quality youth development activities.
Program Requirements and/or Eligibility Criteria:
- Youth must be between the ages of 10-15
- Demonstrate eligibility by completing the Youth Screening Eligibility Tool (YSET)
- Have a regular association in the GRYD Zone
